Communities of Care

TANTARA's success has prompted staff and management to give back to our Communities of Care. Much of our success has come from the Department of the Army in both the Mentor-Protégé Program and the award of work.

Society of American Military Engineers

TANTARA has been a sustaining member of the Society of America Military Engineers (SAME) for over 13 years, and staff members have volunteered for several committees in the Boston Post since 2001.

Ladies of Liberty Funding and Donations
TANTARA has become a partner to the Ladies of Liberty, which is associated with Soldier’s Angels, a volunteer, non-profit organization that provides aid and comfort to the men and women of the U.S. military and their families. As a woman-owned business, TANTARA wanted to focus on helping female soldiers in need. TANTARA has donated to the Ladies of Liberty and is working with them to see what more can be done in fundraising and assistance.

Veteran’s Administration (VA) Outreach / Local Hiring Support

TANTARA organized a training program with the local VA to aid veterans and returning soldiers in becoming certified in various construction-related areas. The OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach certification is necessary before a person may step on a government construction site in several states in New England.  Assisting former soldiers obtain this certification for no cost offers them greater potential for employment in a construction-related field. TANTARA has also partnered with the local Worcester unemployment office and with the local hockey team, the Worcester Sharks, in a job fair to aid finding jobs for local residents / businesses.

Participation in Mentor-Protégé Program

Sponsored by the U.S. Army, TANTARA entered into a Mentor-Protégé (MP) Program agreement in March 2010. The Mentor-Protégé program enhances the capability of 8(a) participants to compete more successfully for federal government contracts. TANTARA and its large business mentor Jacobs Engineering Group, were among the
eight recipients of the 2013-14 Nunn-Perry Award from the Dept. of Defense Office of Small Business Programs. The prestigious award, given in a May 2014 ceremony, recognizes MP teams that excel in the areas of quality, technical development, cost efficiencies, and increased business opportunities for small disadvantaged firms.
